Where are we going with sports in 2020? Stupid or smart?
Thousands of fans anxiously eying the scoreboard, the constant booing, and cheering of the crowd, cameramen scurrying around to get the perfect picture of their star, Kevin Durant counting down the seconds to his game-winning shot. This hyperactive atmosphere might be the one thing we’re missing in our lives right now.
It’s been forever. To be more precise, it’s been about 105 days since college and school closures. What have we done other than painting our nails, looking at TikToks, or spamming our friends with a couple hundred messages? Well maybe some of us were a little productive. But I can say one thing, sports enthusiasts, we missed the environment and partners. So what did we do? We went wild! Did crazy things and came back. These are some hilarious examples.
1. Eliminating sports from our lives
Stupidity taken to the next level. Sports keep us in check, round us up, help us make lifelong friendships. Without sports, where is the satisfaction of destroying your opponent or other team? Where is the coping? Sports are like a stress ball. If we eliminate sports, the pleasure of life will die down and stress levels will amplify. Come back sports, please.
2. Red Bull
When I think of Red Bull, I think of some random soda that my parents occasionally drink, and how it’s supposed to have disastrous effects on your body. Pretty heart-warming right? Well here’s when things get crazy. Red Bull’s F1 advisor suggested injecting the team with covid19 for immunity purposes. This terrific idea was presented by Helmut Marco!!!! Thank god the drivers rejected this sickening idea or we would have another diseased team on our hands.
3. Restarting college sports
College sports are foundational to professional sports and core to the sports-crazed audience. Last month, colleges were given permission to kickstart sports. Louisiana State University, Clemson University, and Kansas State University were among many that had athletes test positive for Covid19. This experiment proved that sports teams needed to be put on pause until further notice- at least until players understand the need of social distancing and masks. Did the light bulb go off colleges?
Creative ideas:
8. Fundraising with big brands.
In the coming years, we will most probably see an increase in charities with big sports leagues like the NBA, NFL, MLB, MLA, and NHL. During this time, sports leagues have found it difficult to reel in fans to their non-existent games, so fundraising is the perfect solution! Expect to see more of that in the next couple of months.
7. Amazon Concession stands
Crazy right? Amazon taking over the streets as well? The food concession stands will be out for the grabs when the majority of games will be streamed, and Amazon will seize that opportunity as seen many times before.
6. Donuts
It seems like nowadays adults are turning into teens and visa versa. These disk-shaped social distancing measures are perfect for sports bars to implement to bring the sports-crazed adult fans back.
5. Video games and reflexes
Many driven athletes who crave competing use video games to up their reaction times. Video games especially when played on an Xbox or switch positively impact the athlete’s “action and reaction times” aka reflexes. Reflexes are a crucial piece to unlocking a new level of athletic ability.
4. Roadside sports
Yeah, I see those Bleacher Report posts on Instagram as well. Big city amateurs are rounding up players from neighboring areas to join them in a simple game of roadside basketball. This activity draws quite a crowd and gives the players a quick drive down the professional sports lane.
3. VR games alongside in-person games
While sports have been down the past couple of months, the video game industry has been thriving with VR concerts and millions of players across various different platforms. If sports adopt, sponsor video games, and conduct online competitions, it will captivate a totally different audience!
2. Private rooms for stadiums take off
Robots might be servers, there might be cameras placed around the circumference of the field. But, you can be assured of one thing: you WILL not be sitting 2 inches apart from your friend or a random person. Those unused, expensive private lounges with a birds-eye view of the games will probably bring all the sales to the big stadiums.
1. Personal “bubble”
“Too futuristic” No. The concept of a personal bubble is a solar-powered rectangular-shaped space that encases one into a “personal shield”. The sports world will find it vital to utilize this brilliant piece of technology because it will allow people to interact and remain close to each other. Well, that’s only if this technology exists by the time the sports world starts. If not, then we’re stuck to robots, AI, and good old social distancing. Below is a company which created a stereotype for the “personal shield”.
Maybe with these ultramodern ideas, we can be safe and prevent the spread of Covid19 without sacrificing sports. So, get to work entrepreneurs!
