People either love or hate the Kardashians. What are the Kardashians made up of?
The Kardashians are some of the most followed people on social media. Their success and cash has been a byproduct of their popularity amongst youngsters and even elders. Some people think of these beauty moguls as disruptive to Hollywood and some people think they’re an outstanding influence to the make-up empire. RIGHT and RIGHT. So the real question is do we think the kardashians are a good influence or bad?
Let me give you a brief timeline of their success in the industry. Though they have had many ties to the entertainment industry, Kim Kardashian’s real break was through her relationship with Ray J and the infamous tape. Soon after, in 2007, the reality show started, and POOF fame. After that came endless brands, drama, and fans. Sounds easy enough right? No. This series of events must have been planned for so long. They WANTED to be famous. They WANTED to be rich. They WANTED drama.
Yeah, the Kardashians ARE known for their scandalous behavior and clothes, but there are a couple of things to give them credit for.
Let’s take Kim Kardashian’s example. Her obsessive fans believe she’s destined for great things. Her radical haters think otherwise. They think she’s only good at taking selfies, commenting, and posting. Though she aspires to be a lawyer, where is she being political or advocating for her opinion? There is a counter argument though: she did show her love and support for Barack Obama back in 2016, wearing political T-shirts and all.
Okay let’s get straight to it. The thing to give them the most credit for is for the monetization of pop culture and drama. The family fights, love lives, and rich parties showed teens what living a lavish life looks like and some admire these qualities of the Kardashians. The Kardashian’s dated major rap artists. Kim married Kanye West. Kylie dated Travis Scott and Tyga. They have been pop trend setters. Their captions go viral and fans imitate. They brought the much-needed urban culture and sass to Hollywood.
Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that they are excellent business women. Kylie Jenner is one of the best. She turned her loyal following on Instagram into addicted make-up buyers. That’s what makes the Kardashian empire tick. The ability to be clever in the way they advertise different products and get the cash flowing.
Their ride has been quite bumpy though. Over the past 10 years they have managed to accumulate a couple celeb haters, and against popular opinion, sometimes they make mistakes.
Let’s start with their lies. “Inside Kylie Jenner’s web of lies – and why she’s not a billionaire” Forbes stated. Some background: Forbes announced that Kylie Jenner was the youngest self made billionaire in 2019, and confirmed it again earlier this year. Later, they discovered papers were forged and invitations were faked, therefore, taking back the title of a billionaire. Now, Jenner’s net worth is just around $900 million. The problem isn’t because of the $100 million difference, but it’s the lie.
The kardashian’s haven’t exactly been the PERFECT role models. Their fame was based on wrong and needy choices. It’s a known fact that they put on a poker face for social media and exaggerate their lifestyle. This causes many adolescents to undergo confidence issues. But, I guess that’s just part of the family description.
There are pros and cons for every celeb family so the Kardashians are no different, so what IS up with us and the Kardashians? A famous quote by Kim Kardashian that still applies now: “There’s a lot of baggage that comes with us, but it’s like Louis Vuitton baggage; you always want it.” Even though the Kardashians are a little dramatic, we cannot peel our eyes off their lives.
